One Hand on the Throttle

Lucid dreams occur when a person realizes they are dreaming within a dream. I remember once I almost flew in a dream. The brain alerted me this was impossible and it came to an abrupt end.

How to surpass one's own subconscious? By showing the mind that the impossible can be made possible.

Motorcycles are roaring throttles and bodies of hot steel that free us.

We are bound to the earth by gravity but free to traverse her any way we desire, and at any speed.

Without going into detail, for there is little use in looking behind, a month ago I quit my time-clock job after two and a half years. As a consequence, I was forced to surrender my beautiful apartment out of the city and trade it for sharing an apartment downtown.

Three years ago, upon returning from an eight month trip around the globe, with two quarters left of university, I realized I did not ever wish to be a photojournalist. I did want to work at the local health food store I grew up going to. So I finished school and did that. Unintentionally, I fell in love with someone. It ended as badly as I'd dreaded it would from the beginning. Some nights I feel the full weight of this heart. As if it was full of life-blood and possibility and the inexplicable love-at-first-sight kind of love and it has been drained out for two and a half years.

But I feel so free.

Writing and motorcycles have become my blood transfusions.

I hope someday I'll fly in a dream but for now, I'll keep the the roads. Sometimes reality is better than a dream.
